CURE-Ohio
is a non-profit, tax-exempt,
prisoner advocacy organization that focuses on educating the Ohio
public and our elected leaders about the need for responsible prison
management, humane treatment of those incarcerated, fairness in the
parole process, training in job and life skills for all Ohio's
prisoners, and opportunities for employment, housing, and medical care
after release. We seek to accomplish the restoration of our communities
by
promoting effective rehabilitative and restorative programs in Ohio's
prisons, as well as effective and less-expensive alternatives to
incarceration, including drug treatment.
CURE-Ohio
usually meets the first Sunday of each month at 1 p.m.
Through December 2010, the meeting is in Room 100 of the Northwood-High Building, 2231 North High Street, Columbus. Park in the lot behind the building, enter the building through a door from the parking lot at ground level, and take the elevator to the first floor. Call
the number at the left for directions.
A local Columbus branch meets, usually, the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month. For time and place of the next meeting email Cure-Ohio
Columbus; phone 614 635-0227.

Are
you a prisoner or former prisoner? Do you have a friend in or loved one
in prison? Are you concerned about skyrocketing incarceration rates, the
social effects
of high incarceration upon families and communities, fair sentencing,
high recidivism rates, the death penalty, or humane prison living
conditions? Are you horrified at the exorbitant telephone rates that citizens must pay to talk to their friends and family members in prison? Are you a prisoner or ex-prisoner in search
of support, or a person on the outside who is interested in advocacy
work and lobbying for social change? If you answered "yes" to any of
these questions, CURE-Ohio is a grassroots nonprofit that you should
consider joining!
